Custom Inner Fenders From Scratch! Aluminum Fab on a Body Dropped Toyota
Today in the shop we’re back on the 1996 Toyota body dropped mini truck, diving into full custom sheet metal fabrication. In this video, we’re building a set of custom aluminum inner fenders from scratch — starting with templates and turning them into finished panels ready for install. We cover: • Designing and templating the inner fenders • Transferring templates to aluminum • Bending and shaping the panels • Bead rolling for strength and style • Dimple dying bolt holes for a clean, recessed button head bolt look • Test fitting everything in the engine bay This is the exact process we use in the shop to create clean, functional, and professional-looking engine compartments. If you’re into metal fabrication, custom trucks, bead rolling, or learning how to build panels the right way, this one’s for you.

After Polyester primer... This Is What I Spray Next (Evercoat Uro-Fill)
In the previous video we sprayed polyester primer to build and straighten the panels on this project. Polyester primer is incredible for high-build surfacing, but many shops take an additional step before paint. In this video I walk through Evercoat Urofill acrylic urethane primer and explain why I often spray urethane primer over polyester primer during the finishing stages of bodywork. We cover: • What urethane primer is designed to do • Why many shops spray urethane primer over polyester primer • The differences between polyester primer, epoxy primer, and urethane primer • Evercoat Urofill product details and data sheet information • Mixing ratios and spray gun setup • How urethane primer helps refine sanding scratches • Preparing panels for final blocking and paint This is the exact process we use in the shop when finishing panels for high-end restorations and custom builds.
